SLMHA President Grant Jowitt released a statement today in response to the recent change in player movement policy by the OMHA. Please take a moment to read through to help better understand how the Association is addressing this.
Dear SLMHA Members;
By now, some or most of you are aware of the "No Borders Policy" that was published by the OHF in December. For background, pleaser refer to https://www.omha.net/news_article/show/1326359
Our policies will need to be updated to reflect these updates but at this point we have several questions as relates to the 2025-2026 season.
One item to note: it has been made clear by the OHF that tampering and/or soliciting is strictly prohibited, and will carry very harsh penalties, both personally and for the association.
Tampering will be considered reaching out to players of other associations encouraging them to come to our organization. It will also include speaking directly to coaches to either ask what their plans are for next season or talking to coaches in other organizations persuading them to come to our association. Speaking directly with other families asking them to come to SLMHA will also be considered tampering.
If you feel that any of the conversations or questions you’re considering asking coaches or players could be misconstrued or labeled "tampering" please DO NOT ASK THEM!
If you have any questions, please send them directly to [email protected].
Again, please be aware that we may not have all the answers at this time, and, as executive positions are volunteer positions, it may take some time to receive a reply. The Executive also asks you to be patient as very little information has been released to us. Once we know more, we will share it with SLMHA members.

SLMHA will continue to offer programming to all of its members and we appreciate your patience as we move forward to better address this new policy.
Thank you for your patience,
Grant Jowitt
